Prayer Request

Be praying for year old Marcellius (Celli) who received a lung transplant at CHOP last Thursday. He has been at CHOP since last February. His family is from Michigan.

I visited Phil and Lisa, Marcellius (Celli) and Lisa’s mom at CHOP early this afternoon. Celli is 7 years old and has been in hospital since last February, poor kid. He spent from February to April in a hospital in Michigan, where the family lives, and has been at CHOP since April. To learn more, go to www.carepages.com and enter the name Celli.

mereBreath Casting Call

While all performing roles for the upcoming 2007 season have been filled, the drama ministry of Tenth is still looking for two tech crew; no experience neccessary, as training is provided. This is a great opportunity to find out what this exciting ministry is all about without stage fright. Contact Director Bryan Glass at mereBreath@aol.com

Be Careful!

The painters across the street are making me nervous. They are standing on the ledge of fourth floor painting the windows. They have ropes tied around their waists, but I don't know...one slip and... Their mothers certainly would not approve!

Financial Assistant Needed

Tenth Church is seeking a part-time financial assistant to help with bookkeeping, payroll, special projects, and administrative duties. Experience with Excel and Quickbooks is required. The ideal candidate would be a college graduate with an interest in business or relevant experience in bookkeeping. Please send résumé to Pat Canavan at pcanavan@tenth.org.

Elverson

This Sunday I will be away preaching at Community Evangelical Free Church in Elverson. Steve Estes is the pastor. I will be preaching "A Greater Thanksgiving" on 1 Peter 1:10-12. Please uphold me in your prayers.

Basketball Coach Needed

I think CCA has filled all its positions except for a girls' basketball coach. If interested, contact Ray Withers at 215.731.1930.

Thanksgiving Service

The Thanksgiving Service sermon title is "An Urban Thanksgiving." Hebrews 13:1-16 is the text. I've read the text. I'm not sure where Phil is going with this.

By the way, on-street parking is available, as well as nursery. Go to the main page of the church website for more details.

Helpful Sites

Okay, you internet savvy users. Share your favorite useful websites in the Comments section. What are some sites that give practical, helpful information?

Makeover

The next time you are at the church look across the church at the 315 building and admire the new facelift. Painters are putting a new coat of paint (beige) at this moment.

MercyNet and David

I had a meeting with David Apple and Bill Krispin, Director of CityNet. This was a three-month review of David's work as the MercyNet Director. David continues to be thoroughly enjoying his assignment. His primary task has been making contact with the diaconates of the MercyNet churches (which includes all the churches of Philadelphia Presbytery), meeting with them, listening to their concerns. One goal is to help the churches network with one another, providing encouragement and support, as well as problem-solving together. Please continue to pray for David's ministry.

Just Get Me to the Parade

I saw this in today's paper:

A start-up online mapping service is betting that many Philadelphia-area residents won't want to e bothered with their cars for Thursday's Thanksgving Day Parade. PublicRoutes.com says it has sliced, diced and algorithmed SEPTA train, subway and bus routes so that users of its free site can find their way from anywhere in the five-county region to the parade route and back.

P.S. I just went to it and can't figure out how to get to the information. Now I need a website to show me how to navigate the navigation site!

Thanksgiving Traditions

With Thanksgiving just three days away, let me hear how about your traditions and especially about your special dishes you will be enjoying.
